GUG Review: The Father

Nothing about this year’s Oscars ceremony was surprising. The only minor surprise came in the best performance category. Everyone and their mother assumed Chadwick Bozeman would win Best Actor of posthumously following his tragic passing from cancer last summer.

Much to everyone’s surprise, Anthony Hopkins won for his performance in The Father.

Anyone who has seen that film shouldn’t be surprised though. The film, directed by French playwright Florian Zeller, is a masterpiece. Hopkins owns the film and gives it its essential strength through one of the best performances of his career.
