Gina Carano Fired from Lucasfilm, #CancelDisneyPlus Trends

Gina Carano, Star of Disney+’s The Mandalorian, has been fired from Lucasfilm, future Star Wars projects and her talent agency.

The move came after a posting yesterday on Instagram wherein she compared the plight of conservatives in Hollywood to Jews in Germany before the Holocaust and claimed that they were facing discrimination and mob harassment.

Gina Carano hasn’t been shy to controversy. She has spent the past several months poking the hornets nest by joking about Personal Pronouns, Mask Conspiracies, Election Fraud, Jeffrey Epstein and other contentious topics.

Her tweeting put her on bad terms with progressive Twitter who have spent the last three months attempting to #Cancel her with numerous hashtags including #GinaCaranoisOverParty and #GinaCaranoFired.

Behind the scenes, the firing was apparently a long time coming. A source at the Hollywood Reporter claimed Disney had planned their own spin-off series starring her character Cara Dune before deciding to back away from her due to her November tweets. Disney had apparently been “looking for a reason to fire her for two months”.

This isn’t terribly surprising. Disney is a deeply strict and clean brand that makes its employees sign strict contracts to avoid embarrassing the brand. One can see why they might internally decided making jokes about the Holocaust would been off brand. That said, the decision didn’t go uncriticized.

The firing cased a massive Twitter backlash. #CancelDisneyPlus skyrocketed to the top of Trending on Twitter and caught more than 25,000 retweets before Twitter stopped reporting the number of retweets. Fans of groups like #WeLoveGinaGarano rallied behind the actress.

Fans were also quick to point out the extreme hypocrisy in Disney’s part that they would fire a popular actress while ignoring similarly hostile social media posts by other actors on the show…

Multiple times…

Refusing to address the ongoing genocide of China’s Uighur Muslim minority (happening right down the street from where they shot Mulan)…

Hiring writers who castigated white people for being inherently racist…

Firing American workers and forcing them to train their replacements who were being shipped into the country on workers visas…

Hiring MULTIPLE actors and crew who would go on to be charged with Rape and Child P*rn…

Refusing to fire an employee who said Republican children should be fed into a wood chipper…

Rehiring Nick Cannon after he quoted Louis Farrakhan, calling white people “savages”…

Rehiring James Gunn after his online social media spree making casual jokes about rape, pedophilia and the Holocaust…

And repeatedly hiring directors and creatives who harassed, demeaned and mocked their staff.

Look, I’m editorializing at this point.

Disney, Disney+ and Lucasfilm aren’t just guilty of firing one actress unjustly. They’ve dedicated themselves wholly to following the whims of a deeply abusive, hypocritical and immoral corporate status quo that preys upon innocent women, punches down on rural American citizens for their voting choices and promotes vile hatred in the name of “social justice”.

I have defended Disney a great deal and given them the benefit of the doubt for a long time, even defending controversial creative decisions behind films like The Last Jedi.

Disney can consider themselves on my Craplist. Going forward, CulturalRevue.com has NO plans to continue covering Disney projects like Raya and the Last Witch, The Bad Batch, Black Widow, WandaVision, Falcon and Winter Soldier and The Mandalorian for the immediate future so long as Disney is willing to actively disenfranchise some people and defend others based solely on their political views.

As much as I enjoy Marvel and Star Wars, you have to draw the line of corporate malfeasance somewhere. It’s not just because an actress I like was fired. It’s because THIS was the only moral line Disney has proved they’re willing to stand on and it’s a blatantly immoral stance.

Sadly, so long as 90 million people support Disney+ and millions of people attend their parks and movies, the studio will have zero incentive to change…
