This month marked the launch of the fascinating multi-media experiment Star Wars: The High Republic. The initiative brought together a group of fantasy and YA authors together to tell an original story within the canon of the franchise and to expand the setting into new places
Their first entry to hit store shelves was Charles Soule’s inaugural effort Light of the Jedi. His story provides the prologue to this experiment by establishing the new characters and time period.
Given how controversial Disney’s Star Wars has been, can this new initiative please the fan base or will it fall into the dreaded “woke” tropes that fans hate?
